The Shaggs
Philosophy of the World
Third World, 1969
The most original pop album I've ever laid ears on and a long-time Desert Island fave. I'm one of the very few, very fortunate music fans lucky enough to have an original pressing sitting under his stereo. (Third World Records. Curious that noone's ever pointed out the connection there.) Thoroughly dismissed by the vast majority of critics, pundits and casual listeners and practically canonized by the likes of Jonathon Richman, Lester Bangs and Frank Zappa, here's an MP3 of their "Who Are Parents". You be the judge.
