Music Out of the Moon/Music for Peace of Mind Les Baxter with Samuel Hoffman
Here's an early '50s 12" "double" LP with two of the earliest, if not the earliest, pop theremin albums ever produced. Both were originally released as 78 sets and 10" LPs on the same label. Pretty radical stuff for its time, but that time is looong gone, and both albums have a very quaint and dated sound to them. I think for most people this is the appeal, which it is for me, but it's a lot more soft and subtle experience than much of the other early electronic music LPs I've heard. Very cool and unusual early mood music piece. Here's an excerpt from their "Radar Blues" track. |
