Man in Space With Sounds Attilio Mineo Incredible album but the music is so creepy and so sinister, you really have to be in the right frame of mind to give it a spin. People's personal outlooks leak into commissioned works, even commercial one's like Man in Space, and I'll take a wild (and uneducated) guess that AT's view of the future was not very rosy. LP was scored and composed as the soundtrack to the "Bubble-Ator" ride at the 1962 World's Fair and was released in two formats: one purely instrumental & another with explanatory voice-overs. True masterwork of early Outer Space Exotica that incorporates electronics and experimental instruments into a (relatively) small orchestral group featuring a tense, nervous and otherworldly string section. Paints a bleak but fascinating portrait of mans future in outer space. This album saw a legit CD reissue back in '99 on the Subliminal Sounds label and can be found pretty easily online. Unfortunately original vinyl copies can be a tough and expensive venture, worthwhile for collectors but not for most normal, healthy and adjusted people (laugh).
